New Holland Electronic Service Tools support all RP1210A, RP1210B, and RP1210C compliant applications that support J1708/J1587,CAN/J1939, J1850 VPW (GM Class II) and the ISO15765 protocols. The DPA also works with applications that were specifically written to use the DG non-RP1210-compliant native drivers for other protocols, such as GM UART and ISO9141. This post shows how to configure the most common RP1210-compliant diagnostic applications to work with the DPA 5.
To set up the RP1210 OEM Diagnostic Software with the DPA5 Adapter, follow these steps:
1. Start by ensuring that your computer meets the minimum requirements for the software and adapter. Check the system specifications provided by the manufacturer.
2. Install the RP1210 OEM Diagnostic Software on your computer. Follow the installation instructions provided with the software. Make sure to choose the correct version that is compatible with your operating system.
3. Connect the DPA5 Adapter to your computer using the USB cable provided. The adapter should be detected and installed automatically by your computer. If prompted, install any necessary drivers for the adapter.
4. Launch the RP1210 OEM Diagnostic Software. Look for the settings or configuration menu within the software. The location and appearance of this menu may vary depending on the software you are using.
5. In the settings menu, locate the option to select the communication protocol. Choose the appropriate protocol for your application, such as J1708/J1587, CAN/J1939, J1850 VPW, or ISO15765. Select multiple protocols if necessary.
6. Look for the option to choose the communication interface or adapter. Select the DPA5 Adapter from the list of available devices. If the adapter does not appear in the list, ensure that it is properly connected to your computer and try again.
7. Save the settings and exit the configuration menu. You may need to restart the software for the changes to take effect.
8. Connect the DPA5 Adapter to the vehicle’s diagnostic port using the appropriate cable or connector. Make sure the connection is secure.
9. Launch the RP1210 OEM Diagnostic Software again. It should now be configured to work with the DPA5 Adapter and communicate with the vehicle’s onboard systems.
10. Follow the software’s instructions for performing diagnostic tests, reading fault codes, and accessing other vehicle information. The DPA5 Adapter will facilitate the communication between the software and the vehicle.
Remember to refer to the user manuals and documentation provided by the software and adapter manufacturers for detailed instructions and troubleshooting tips.
